School Ethos

BRIDGET HEARNE-SALIBA ARAD RAD RTS went to the Royal Ballet School from the age of 11.  After 8 years training she was one of 4 graduates out of 100 to be offered a ballet company contract, namely London’s Festival Ballet (renamed English National Ballet) where she continued to dance for the next 10 years in both corps de ballet and soloist roles.

After a varied career whilst she brought up her own children she then decided to train as a Royal Academy of Dance teacher (RAD) and to give young children all the knowledge and experience gained from her time at the Royal Ballet School and London’s Festival Ballet.

Ballet is a very demanding discipline and it is imperative that the love of dance should be sustained throughout the difficult times of training.  It is essential that a very good grounding is instilled at a young age so bad habits don’t develop.  As a result there will be some physical correction given to youngsters but only when absolutely necessary and handled in a sensitive manner.

RAD examinations will be taken for those that are ready from Grade 1 onwards.  These are not compulsory but do give children a sense of achievement before moving up to the next grade.  Although it is preferred that parents do not watch the younger classes as it is very distracting for them, from Grade 2 onwards parents are positively encouraged to watch.  At the end of every term parents are invited to watch the last class to see for themselves their child’s improvement.
